Dear Friends,

I don’t know about you, but at the start of the New Year I have this feeling of running a little behind schedule. I’m not sure exactly why, but with the holiday break almost over, I’m feeling the urge to make new plans, organize events, and get ready for “the season” ahead.

So, here’s what – so far – you can expect from TPW in 2026: we already have seven workshops lined up, and I’m working on two more… I’ll break the news very soon! but those are top secret for now.

Easter Processions in Sicily – A Journey into Tradition and Culture 

Scicli, Sicily, Italy 

April 1-7, 2026 

In 2000, we held our first workshop outside Tuscany, venturing to Sicily during the Easter processions in the Palermo area. It was a magical experience, but after two years, it became too crowded. Tourists and photographers seemed to outnumber the pilgrims, and we knew it was time to move on.

We found a new “home” on the east coast of Sicily, exploring the towns of Siracusa, Modica, and Scicli. Each had its own unique Easter rituals, and over the years, we fell in love with the area’s authenticity, charm, and quieter, more intimate atmosphere.

Twenty years later, the memories still linger, filling us with nostalgia. So, we thought: Why not bring the workshop back?

Renowned photographer Andrea Pistolesi, who was with us back then, is just as enthusiastic about returning. We’ll base ourselves in Scicli, a small town that comes alive during Easter. For three days, it transforms into a vivid representation of Christ’s Passion, attracting both pilgrims and locals returning home to celebrate with family. We will immerse ourselves in this extraordinary experience, capturing the soul of Sicily through our lenses.

Surprised by the Unpredictable 

Turin, Italy 

April 12-18, 2026

 We are continuing our workshop with one of TPW most loved workshops – Surprised by the Unpredictable with Anders Petersen.

After exploring Italy’s major cities, this year we will be in Turin.

A unique place in norther Italy, a concentrate of art, Italian culture, tradition and top culinary experience.

And, of course, Anders Petersen, who, like a pied piper, will be your mentor, preparing you to face every day’s unpredictable events. 

Relax, grab your camera, walk along the narrow streets of  Turin and get lost in one of Italy most challenging cities.

Armelle Gouyet 

Intimacy

It will be the first time Armelle teaches at TPW, and I am very exited about having her as part of our “family”. Her sensual and mysterious photograph will take the participants into a dreamy world, will bring us back to old memories and experiences. A new vision of the female body, in a special location, in the amazing landscape of south west Sicily. 

Pauliana Valente Pimentel 

The Vibrant Soul of Lisbon 

Lisbon, Portugal 

June 10-16, 2026

Finally back to Lisbon, where we already run a couple of workshops in the past. We will be there during The Santo António Festival is one of Portugal’s most celebrated street parties – an extraordinary annual event held every June that draws thousands of visitors to the vibrant capital. This passionate festival honours Saint Anthony, the patron saint of Lisbon, happy marriages, and lost things. Over time, it has evolved into an explosion of street parties and a joyful celebration of the city itself, transcending its purely religious origins.

Pauliana Valente Pimentel is a worldwide recognized photographer, living in Lisbon, and she will be happy to show participants the hidden corners of the city.

We’re thrilled to announce a very special return to Tuscany this year, where our journey with TPW (Toscana Photographic Workshop) first began over thirty years ago. What started as a passion for capturing the stunning landscapes of Tuscany has now come full circle, and we’re excited to offer a new photographic adventure for those who want to experience this region with an intimate, hands-on approach.

Andrea Pistolesi, renowned for his expert photography reportages al over the world, will guide us as we re-explore the iconic Val d’Orcia, an area now world-famous and part of the UNESCO Heritage circuit.

Giacomo Brunelli 

Rome: the Great Beauty

After two successful workshops in Venice with Giacomo Brunelli, our journey leads us now to Rome.

A new city, a new challenge. Giacomo is currently developing a personal project in the Eternal City, spending time walking, observing, and photographing it — always in his own distinctive way. As in his books on New York, London, and Venice, he brings an intimate vision of the city, avoiding clichés or bending them to his advantage through his unmistakable, clean black-and-white style.

Gabrielle Duplantier 

Private Visions 

Cisternino, Puglia 

October 4-10, 2026

Gabrielle Duplantier is back at TPW, and for this occasion we have chosen the villages of the Val d’Itira, in Puglia.

Photography stands as a captivating way of expressing emotion in response to the world and things, a way of connecting with ourselves through the gaze we place on what surrounds us. It enables us, by means of real contexts, to probe, reveal or even go beyond faces, settings and landscapes, to recreate a universe.

Discovering a new place is an extraordinary opportunity for exploration, and for loosening our grip on the everyday.

Portraits, landscapes, atmospheres, daily life: participants will be invited to assimilate their new surroundings to create a series of personal images ‒ with a spontaneous or a more pondered approach ‒ to shape a creative path that they can take as their own.

Puglia off season is a great place to be and discover!
