“I am always been attracted by the female body and portraits in a natural environment. Two powerful forces mixing together in order to create harmony. In an age ruled by chaos, for me is of vital importance, a question of survival, to find these elements and mixing them. In a no place -no time situation. Wild entity, still gentle and calm.

Some of my images are surreal, some other are very direct and simple: always, an expression of my inner art and vision.

My workshop is focused on practice. I like to be at the heart of the subject.

We will shoot during the day – alternating mornings and afternoons – and meet in the rest of the day to evaluate and work on the photos taken.

I will accompany the photographers throughout their shoots.

Imagination, appropriation of space, connection with the model. Pushing your own style while absolutely respecting the other, namely model and nature.

This will be a very special workshop, where Armelle Gouyet will direct and follow the participants through a path of creating new exciting projects, using nature.

Our venue, on the west coast of Sicily, will offer us the right chance to live close nature, explore natural spots such as caves and beaches…we will recreate a suspended time, where we can experiment with new ideas.

Our models will help us tin this, participating to the realization of our ideas.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Accommodations and meals.

We will be staying at Carosello dei Baroni, an ex-monastery in the countryside outside Noto.  https://www.ilcarosellodeibaroni.it/

We used this location last spring as well and it turned out to be an amazing place for  shootings and meetings. It offers rooms for the participants and the possibility to have dinners and some lunches, and the area around it it’s amazing. There are caves, and in 20 minutes you can walk down to a small lake, and just explore the countryside around us. And at equally distance from us, you ca reach  Palazzolo Acreide and Noto, the gems of the baroque. The seaside is not far, and also Vendicari Natural Reserve

Rooms are spacious, and we will have the whole place for ourselves. In addition, we can use the nearby Ianco villa (the other half of the monastery) for shootings and meetings.

Ianco  https://www.ianconotoantica.it/, next door from Carosello dei Baroni. It will our center, where we will have the morning meetings, and also shootings. It’s an amazing venue, where time seems to have stopped…beautiful interiors and a typical sicilian garden.

Travel

Best airport to fly too is Catania International Airport (CTA). From there is aprox 1hr drive. We can organize a car transfer, or you can decide to rent a small car. Let’s see when we get closer to the workshop dates.

Models

During this workshop Armelle will use one/two models, to show the participants  how to interact with models in order to get the results you want. Again, according to the number of students, we will have one or two.

BIOGRAPHY

Armelle Gouyet acquired her first camera at the age of fourteen. Photography quickly became a lifelong companion. After studies in literature and advertising, she devoted herself entirely to her practice.

Over the past seven years, her work has taken on greater depth and individuality. Her creations draw inspiration from nature, beauty, the elegance of her models, and the world of dreams. She seeks to transmit emotion rather than focus on technical detail, favouring atmosphere, softness, and poetic intuition. Her portraits evoke an inner world where light becomes a language of its own.
