Summer Workshop at Villa Lina – August 1-7, 2021

“In Michael Ackerman’s work, documentary and autobiography conspire with fiction, and all of the above dissolve into hallucination. All of Ackerman’s work explores time and timelessness, personal history and the history of places. decayed and damaged images, not as a matter of style but a direct analogue of experience.” Jem Cohen, Filmmaker and Visual Artist

In my workshops I try to understand each participant’s individual vision, mentality, sensibility and their history. I try to challenge them to break some borders that they may be confined by. I wish to inspire them to consider new possibilities for their work. To feel more free to explore their own curiosities, passions and obsessions. To create something more true to life – to each of our own subjective reality and to the world we live in and share. It’s very important for me that all the participants feel that their voice is valid and equal in the workshop. It should be a collaboration, not a lecture.
