welcome to our End (hopefully!) of Winter Newsletter.

We are already half through this winter, days are getting longer, and, as soon as February is over, we can switch to the “spring” mode. You can guess I am not a big fan on winter!

With spring, we will also start making plans for the warmer months: ideal time to plan your week at TPW.

We will start with our workshops in Sicily in May:

Sicily •  May 5-12 • Photo-Moto workshops with Paul Elledge
A workshop Paul and I have been talking about for more than 10 years…and now it is time to do it. Discover the eastern side of Sicily, exploring little villages, riding on scooters and stop to photograph daily life while travelling on secondary roads of Sicily.
A unique experience! And definitely a lot of fun.

Sicily, Palermo • May 13-19 • Surprised by the Unpredictable with Anders Petersen
Anders Petersen has been teaching workshops with us since 2007. Recently we moved his classes out of Tuscany and had some amazing workshops together, in Venice, Rome and recently in Siracusa, Sicily. This spring we will go back to Sicily, this time to Palermo, for another deep immersion week with one of the masters of contemporary photography. This class usually fills up very quickly, if you are interested please contact us ASAP.

And then we will move to Lisbon, with a special workshop with Pauliana Valente Pimentel

Lisbon, Portugal • June 10-16 • Sant’Antonio Celebrations & Daily Life
Join us during the Santo Antonio celebrations, when the city explodes with colourful decorations, to celebrate its patron saint. In the squares and narrow streets of Lisbon, music, dance, colour, street parties contribute to create a special atmosphere.

The heart of the summer is dedicated to
TPW Summer Workshop, from July 29 to August 4

As every summer in the past 25 years, we are happy to share with you our program of TPW Summer Workshop.
We already have a list ready, and other classes will be added in the next weeks.

We will create – as every summer for the past 25 years! – an intense week, with different teachers working on different aspects of photography, and give you all the possibility to share your ideas with photographers working in different fields.

Siracusa, Sicily • August 26 – September 1 • Arno Rafael Minkkinen : Mastering the Power of Three
Arno Rafael Minkkinen returns to Syracuse. I was totally fascinated by the magic atmosphere of the city and will offer again his unique workshop about building a visual continuity in your work.

Siracusa, Sicily • September 1-7 • Davide Bramante The Art Photographer
We ran this workshop for the first time in May 2016, and it has now become a classic. If you are interested in the world of art-photography, and want to know how it is organized, the different directions that art photographers takes, from exhibitions in galleries and museums to the collectors’ world, this is the ideal workshop for you, in beautiful Syracuse.

Bologna • October 15-20 • Book Making workshop with Stuart Smith
A full immersion week with Stuart Smith from Gost Editions, to work on the making of your photographic book. Based in Bologna.

Jaipur, India • November 4-10 • Diwali in Rajasthan.
We have been away from India too long. Time to go back! Diwali is one of the more festive celebrations in India and Japur, in the heart of Rajasthan, the ideal place to celebrate it.

You might wonder what has guitar playing has to do with photography…well, you’ll be surprised to find out how much they have in common: discipline, practice, gear, creativity, sharing a vision, learn from the masters…

benvenuti alla nostra newsletter di fine inverno (speriamo…!)

Siamo già a metà strada, le giornate si stanno allungando, e trascorso Febbraio, saremo già in modalità “primavera”! Come potete immaginare, non sono un grande fan dell’inverno!

Con la primavera viene anche la voglia di organizzarsi per i mesi più caldi: il momento perfetto per programmare la vostra settimana al TPW.

Cominceremo con i workshop in Sicilia in Maggio.

Sicilia, Maggio 5-12 • Photo-Moto workshop con Paul Elledge
Da 10 anni Paul Elledge e io stiamo parlando di questo workshop…è giunto il momento! 7 giorni in scooter attraverso i paesi della Sicilia Orientale, da Catania a Ragusa passando per Siracusa, Noto e Valle del Barocco. Fotografia, moto, esplorazione, food.
Assolutamente da non perdere. Noleggeremo delle “Vespe” a Siracusa e da lì partiremo per la nostra avventura.

Sicilia, Palermo, Maggio 13-19 • Surprised by the Unpredictable with Anders Petersen
Anders Petersen insegna al TPW da molti anni. Prima in Toscana e poi in location diverse: Venezia, Roma e recentemente Siracusa. Tornerà in Maggio a Palermo, per una settimana di full immersion nella vita palermitana, e per farvi ancora una volta sorprendere dall’ Unpredictable! Questo workshop solitamente si riempie in fretta, vi consigliamo do contattarci al più presto.

Lisbona, Portogallo, Giugno 10-16 • Sant’Antonio Celebrations & Daily Life
In passato, abbiamo già organizzato workshop a Lisbona, città che amiamo e che è una fucina di idee per i fotografi. Come sempre vogliamo dare un taglio particolare ai nostri workshop: saremo a Lisbona in Giugno, durante la festa di Sant’Antonio, quando la città celebra il santo patrono. Pauliana Valente Pimentel ci condurrà attraverso il ritmo intenso di questi giorni.

Aggiungeremo altri workshop, prima del nostro appuntamento estivo al TPW Summer Workshop, che quest’anno avrà luogo dal 29 Luglio al 4 Agosto.
Stiamo lavorando ad un progetto per l’inizio di Luglio, più indicazioni nella prossima newsletter e su FB.

Arno Rafael Minkkinen, una delle presenze fisse ai Summer Workshop TPW, dall’anno scorso ha iniziato i workshop a Siracusa, ed è stato subito affascinato dalle opportunità fotografiche che offre. Eccolo di nuovo qui, con un workshop su come mantenere continuità stilistica nei propri progetti fotografici.

Abbiamo lanciato questo workshop per la prima volta nel Maggio 2016, è visto il successo, lo ripresentiamo in Settembre..
Esamineremo tutti gli aspetti relativi alla Art Photography, dal punto di vista artistico, commerciale e tecnico. Gli studenti del corso di Bramante erano entusiasti!
