We all want to create better images. We will learn how to in this course. Beginning seeing and using Photoshop with different eyes, through a more scientific method, though also experimental and inspired, slowly deepening techniques that are more and more complex and advanced, addressed to analyze and solve the most varied problems.
The first day of the course will be dedicated to clarifying crucial aspects of photographic work flows, above all focalizing on taking picture techniques, because some basic photograph rules in digital have changed and ignoring them can only complicate life.
In the following days the course will unroll in a very practical way developing a different theme everyday in an absolute vertical way: from portraits to reportage, from still life to fashion all the way to photography as an artistic expression.
Let’s observe the works of great masters of digital photography, we will explore new and advanced techniques in able to obtain the result that we had set and we will unloose the knot of typical and complex photography problems (the advanced recovery of the underexposure and noise, the restoration of “burnt” areas, faithful chromatic reproduction, the impeccable selection of complex elements like hair... ). Everyone will focalize on their efforts towards the production of a finished project daily: from taking pictures to postproduction.
Part of the lesson will be carried out taking pictures and part in class, where we will manage and examine images with Photoshop and Lightroom exploring colours, as well as black and white, but also experimental elaborations, innovative and tendency. The day will finish with the critical analysis of the projects made.
The students must have their own cameras (possibly digital) and a portfolio on CD of 5-20 works already done (with the possibility of critical comparison between the original picture and the elaborated one).
It is suggested to also bring a CD containing cases of post-production in high resolution particularly difficult and characterized by problems that seen unsolvable. They will be used as case studies during the course.

Born in Foligno (Perugia) in 1978, Marianna Santoni got to photography and Photoshop through a more cultural than technical path, after her university studies dedicated to visual anthropology and years of dedication to art, dance and theatre.
For these reasons her way, passionate and fun, of explaining Photoshop and photography, particularly appreciated for her clear and innovative approach, is detached from photo-retouch in itself trying to educate a real work method, to a new method of thought and seeing things, and the specification of a path towards the definition of her style. Her belief is that what is learnt from courses must not represent an arrival point, but only a new marvellous and stimulating departure point.
The techniques and methodologies that she divulges, from the picture taking to printing, are more than anything the result of research that she carries out for Adobe and, for this reason, they are absolutely innovative and advanced, addressed not only to optimization of productive timing, but also and above all to the obtainment of unexceptionable results on a quality level.

Tutti desideriamo realizzare immagini migliori. In questo corso impareremo come. Iniziando a vedere e ad utilizzare Photoshop con occhi diversi, attraverso un metodo più scientifico, ma anche sperimentale e ispirato, approfondendo di giorno in giorno tecniche sempre più complesse e avanzate volte ad analizzare e a risolvere le problematiche più svariate.
La prima giornata del corso sarà dedicata a chiarire aspetti cruciali del flusso di lavoro fotografico, focalizzandosi soprattutto sulle tecniche di scatto, perchè alcune regole fotografiche di base nel digitale sono cambiate e ignorarle può solo complicarci la vita.
Nei giorni seguenti il corso si snoderà in modo molto pratico sviluppando ogni giorno un tema diverso in modo assolutamente verticale: dal ritratto al reportage, dallo still life alla moda fino ad arrivare alla fotografia come espressione artistica.
Osserveremo i lavori dei grandi maestri della fotografia digitale, esploreremo tecniche nuove e avanzate per ottenere il risultato che ci siamo prefissati e scioglieremo il nodo di problematiche fotografiche tipiche e complesse (il recupero avanzato della sottoesposizione e del rumore, il ripristino di aree “bruciate”, la fedele riproduzione cromatica, la selezione impeccabile di elementi complessi come i capelli... ).
Ognuno focalizzerà ogni giorno i propri sforzi verso la realizzazione di un progetto finito: dallo scatto alla postproduzione.
Parte della lezione si svolgerà fotografando e parte in aula, dove gestiremo e tratteremo le immagini con Photoshop e Lightroom esplorando sia il colore, sia il bianco e nero, ma anche elaborazioni sperimentali, innovative e di tendenza. La giornata terminerà con l’analisi critica dei progetti realizzati.
Gli studenti dovranno essere muniti delle proprie fotocamere (possibilmente digitali) e di un portfolio su CD di 5-20 lavori già svolti (con possibilità di comparazione critica tra lo scatto originale e lo scatto elaborato).
Si consiglia inoltre di portare con sé un CD contenente casi di postproduzione in alta risoluzione particolarmente difficili caratterizzati da problematiche apparentemente irrisolvibili. Saranno utilizzati come casi di studio durante il corso.
