Photographing beauty is making women look their best. It is creating illumination's warmth, and capturing a subject's hair, lips, their individual characteristics, style and fashion. A beauty photo makes the subject as beautiful as they think they are. it is catching in flight the best possible smile, finding locations and spotting the place where beauty will shine. It is shooting in darkness or with multiple lights. Beauty photography improvises, redefines the classics and is falling in love, just for the moment. The photographer gives directions, speaks with gestures, allowing the model to be bad, sweat, be sexy, be a whore or a madonna. the photographer must be able to make her laugh, make her cry, tell her, "Don’t move, just give me your eyes." Hair and makeup are wonderful but not necessary. You can use shadows to disguise defects or highlight mistery. Beauty photography is a romantic feast and a technical delight.

Born and raised in Italy, Luigi Cazzaniga began his photographic career in Rome. His work has appeared in Vogue, Gioia, Marie Claire, and many international fashion publications.  Moving to New York in the mid eighties, he was fashion editor and photographer for an underground magazine, Cover. Two books, "Mondo Inter" and "Group Portraits" were published in Italy by
SilvanaEditoriale. Recent photographic shows include exhibitions in New York's Janos Gat Gallery and Michael Connors Gallery. He has also shown in London's Hamilton Gallery and Genoa's FNAC Gallery. A frequent contributor to Italian Marie Claire and Lo Specchio, he has recently done videos about American life for the Italian TV program, Invasion of the Barbarians. Cazzaniga is known for the modern energy he brings to the classical depiction of beauty.

Fare foto di beauty é fotografare la donna e farla bella. É scovarne l'inquadratura migliore con la luce che rimbalza sui visi, é giocare con le ombre per tagliare ció che stona, é smussare qui e smussare lá, é cogliere al volo il viso migliore. É correre con la modella per strada e far vivere l'abito e lei come farfalle. É farla sdraiare su un divano rotto abbandonato, o su un fondale bianco come ninfa a curve. É farle sentire il flash, la luce, il vento nei capelli, il rossetto sulle labbra, l'atmosfera della sera, il taglio del vestito, etc etc etc. É scovare una location e 'vedere' l'angolo dove la luce spande, perché é lí che loro diventano 'carine'. É fotografare al buio, o davanti a una finestra, é stabilire un rapporto d'amore visivo intenso solo per quel momento, é dire fai cosí fai cosá o dialogare in silenzio con cenni della testa e pensieri. É lasciare che si spoglino, se vogliono, che siano imbronciate, buone, cattive, dolci, sante, sexy e puttane, o madonne del 300 con gli occhi abbassati. É farle ridere e farle divertire. É dire guarda dritto in macchina e sta ferma che quando la luce é giusta é giusto. Ed é un piacere romantico e tanta tecnica. É se c'é trucco parucco e vestiti é il massimo, ma se no che importa.

Nato e cresciuto in Italia, Luigi Cazzaniga a iniziato a lavorare alla fine degli anni 60 a Roma assorbendo l’energia sperimentale e innovativa dell’epoca. Sue fotografie sono state esposte sia in Italia che U.S.A. e pubblicate in molte riviste di moda. Per diversi anni è stato fotografo e fashion-editor per Cover Magazine una rivista underground di New York e ha lavorato per lungo tempo come fotografo di beauty per la rivista Italiana Gioia. Due suoi libri Mondo Inter e Ritratti di Gruppo sono stati recentemente pubblicati in Italia.
Collabora da New York alle riviste Marie Claire e Lo Specchio. Recentemente ha diretto diversi video sull'America per la trasmissione Le Invasioni Barbariche. Porta sempre un approccio moderno alla visione classica del beautyVive e lavora a New York.
